Four Fun Winter Activities in St. Louis Park

There’s snow on the ground. A chill in the air. It feels like December in St. Louis Park!

It won’t be a quiet one; the city is full of activities this season. Here are four ideas to get you started on some winter fun:

1. Cozy Up with a Classic

December is the perfect time for the familiar and the cozy. A play fits the bill. Catch a showing of the classic story “Snow White” at Old Log Theater in Excelsior for a comforting dose of nostalgia. Tickets to the theater’s take on the classic tale with a charming Scandinavian twist are just $12.

  • Date: Friday, Dec. 22
  • Time: 9:45 a.m. – noon
  • Location: Old Log Theater, 5185 Meadville St., Excelsior
  • Fee: $12 per person

2. Dance Out the Winter Blues

Sure, there aren’t as many reasons to get outside in the winter. Fortunately, you can still keep moving with winter sports like ice skating. The Recreation Outdoor Center in St. Louis Park offers open public skating Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you really feel like grooving, head to the ROC at 12:15 p.m. Dec. 23 for Disco Ball Ice Skating. DJ Bob is set to play some disco jams and light up the ice! There’s no fee, and skate rentals are just $3.

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 23
  • Time: 12:15 – 1:45 p.m.
  • Location: ROC, 3700 Monterey Drive
  • Fee: Free, $3 skate rental

3. Ring in the New Year

The outdoor center and skating rink at the ROC are open Sunday, Dec. 31 for the afternoon of New Year’s Eve. Bring some friends and skate away the last day of 2017! Music and refreshments will be available, and there’s no fee to skate, just $3 for a skate rental.

  • Date: Sunday, Dec. 31
  • Time: 3:15 – 6 p.m.
  • Location: ROC, 3700 Monterey Drive
  • Fee: Free, $3 skate rental
